Peeled Faces on the Amazon: The Story of the Amazon Express (2015)
1h 42min · Documentary, Action, Adventure · 6 November 2015
This is the account of the first expedition to paddle the entire 4000+ miles of the Amazon River from its most distant source high in the Peruvian Andes to the Atlantic Ocean in Brazil. Prior to 2012, the source of the world's longest river was believed to be in southern Peru. A new source was discovered, making the Amazon River about 80 miles longer than the Nile River. This international multi-generational team of explorers ran 500 miles of uncharted white water before hitting the final 3800 mile push to the ocean. Along the way, they were fired upon, held at gunpoint 5 times, dealt with hostile natives and friendly narcotraffickers, robbed by pirates, beaten by massive waves and tidal surges and dealt with team conflicts and illness all within the 111 day expedition.
