Myanmar Year Zero (2015)Documentary, Short, History · 1 January 2015
The spirit of peace and reconciliation is put to test during the tumultuous transition from a military regime to democracy in Myanmar. Our documentary catches up with the country as it undergoes major transformations both politically, economically and spiritually. It addresses the surprising reforms after the 2011 general elections that inaugurated greater freedom of press, the opening of trade with the international community, and the release of many political prisoners in 2012. Time will tell if these developments mark the first steps toward real liberalization and national reconciliation, or if the influence of the military and the cronies will prevail. The documentary features high profile former political prisoners, exiled freedom fighters, and exclusive footage of Aung San Suii Kyi in Los Angeles.
