Gateway is a story of opposition to the highly controversial Northern Gateway Project, proposed by Enbridge Inc. to ship 525,000 of diluted bitumen per day from Alberta's tar sands, over the northern Rockies and Coast Mountains, across nearly 800 fish-bearing streams, to the British Columbia coast. As the battle lines form around what may be the most explosive environmental debate in Canadian history, Gateway takes a step back from the sensationalism and offers a sober, realistic look at why so many people see Northern Gateway as an existential threat to the places that sustain them. As the world grapples to deal with climate change, peak oil and economic decline, it's an issue that reaches far beyond the borders of British Columbia.
