Diya is a 12 year old boy. On the way to meet his father at the hospital to visit his dying mother, Diya stops by his routinely visited bridge, where he leans against the lattice gate and watches the traffic swarm beneath him on the 710 freeway in East Los Angles. He remembers his parents making love. They were completely driven by eachother, and sometimes they appeared so close that Diya felt left out. He learned about love through his parents interactions. Diyas reality has become clouded with the memories of his mom. He has come to associate all dead-things with his mother, and cares for a mutilated pigeon as if it were alive, finding hope in something that he needs to let go of.
