Dire Night is a re-imagining of Euripides, The Bacchae, for a new generation of the young and lost. When Allegra and Leo's beautiful family home is Dorset is up for sale, they decide to throw one last party with their closest friends. However, a male stranger, Nick, is invited and poses a threat to Leo, the arrogant lord of their social world. The night crescendos into a dancing whirl of frenzy, but Leo is left; embittered at the sabotaged evening. His pride is wounded, and in this state he is manipulated in a way he never thought possible. Thus the tragic story of the Theban king's downfall is retold over one long, dark and dire night.
