Automotive Service (1940)
10min · Documentary, Short · 1 January 1940
This promotional short is aimed at young men thinking of entering the automotive repair field. It shows what goes into making a good mechanic and how modern--in 1940--cars are so technologically advanced that a good mechanic needs to know much more than just how to fix an engine. He has to know electronics, welding, instrument repair, and even have machinist skills in order to fix or fabricate parts when needed parts aren't in stock. It shows how continuing education--such as taking night classes, reading up on the latest service manuals and repair books and even taking correspondence courses--are a necessity for anyone thinking of getting into the auto repair business.
